This directory contains the following 6 subdirectories, as
described below:
ARTICLES LABYRINTHS MAGIC MATHCULT MIX GCC
This directory contains some old preprints of some of my research in
pure mathematics. Please refer to the README file in that directory
for more information.
This directory contains a browsable version of my sporadic journal
LABYRINTHS.
This directory contains some html files on some of my work on magic squares,
together with lesson plans for teachers of Middle Schools. The files were
prepared with the help of Suzanne Alejandre and Sarah Seaport, who distribute
them at
Swarthmore.
This directory contains the web pages for my discussion group Mathematical
Culture, which met over a period of 3 months at the Barnes and Noble
in Bowling Green, KY. This was another experiment in non-bureaucratic
education. I hope to write a detailed account of this experience
sometime. I also hope that others will be motivated to try similar
experiments.
A simulator for Donald Knuth's mythical machine the MIX 1009, featured
in his book The Art of Computer Programming. I did not write the
program. One way in which it needs to be improved is that the
floating point operations are not implemented. Also, in my opinion,
more needs to be done with the "base independence" that Knuth insists
on.
An old outline I wrote for a book on GCC that I hoped someone would write.
A guest (not a member) of the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab.
